Crossfit At Home Workout

Today after work I headed to the gym for some weight training since I got my long run in yesterday morning.  I started out with some machines that I can't remember the name of.  One of them I just call the armpit fat machine haha.
I think I make this same face while i'm using this machine hahah. Durf.

After a few arm machines I moved on to this cycle of exercises:
Complete 3x through
12 x deadlift w/ 15lb dumbbells
12 x sumo squats w/ 20lb dumbbell
12 x bent over row w/ 15lb dumbbells

Once I was feeling sufficiently warmed up I went through this Crossfit like workout from Blonde Ponytail.
Once I got through this 5 times I was pretty tired. It took me right around 25 minutes to complete the workout.  When I finished, I still had a couple minutes before I wanted to leave the gym so I hopped on the elliptical for a little less than 20 minutes:
I used an elliptical similar to this one.  I like this model becuase you can increade the incline so that you are taking huge knee high steps and you can increase the resistance up to 100.  I alternated between 25 and 35 because my legs were pretty much spent. I stayed at each resistance for 2 minutes, sprinting the last 30 seconds of each 2 minute interval.
Then headed home for some dinner:
HAM!!! I love ham, not even kidding.  I also had some cucumbers from our garden, carrots, zucchini fries, corn and a slice of garlic toast.

The zucchini fries were left over from our bbq yesterday.  Making them was super easy:

You'll need:
sliced zucchini
panko breadcrumbs
parmesean cheese
salt
pepper
egg whites

Mix panko breadcrumbs, cheese, salt and pepper together in a bowl (no measuring here for me, I just eyeball it).  Cut zucchini into fries, dredge in egg whites and dip into panko mixture. Place on a sprayed baking sheet and pop in the oven at 425 for 20 minuts.  They even tasted good the day after. I just popped them in the toaster oven to crisp them up again. So good!

Dad's Day

Matt and I slept in this morning...and for us that means 8am! It felt great though.  I ate a quick breakfast of overnight oats and headed to the gym for some strength training!  I completed this workout twice through from enjoy your healthy life.

I had to use some lighter weights on some of the workouts (the deadrow I used 15s and the walking lunges I used 8s).  I  took me about an hour to complete and I was already sore afterwards. It's not looking good for tomorrow haha. I came home and ate a small lunh of an egg, an apple and some veggies before heading to a local vineyard with Matt and my parents for fathers day.
Found some pictures in the basement from way back when.

20 some years later:

While there we shared a few bottles of wine and munched on an antipasto plate of bread, cheese, salami, olive oil and some amazine bruschetta.  On the way home we stopped at a produce stand to pick up some goodies.
strawberries galor!

When we got home we vegged out for a bit until a late, light dinner.
Crab  cake with roasted veggies and pineapple that wasn't quite ripe enough yet...oops.

We had such a fun time today just relaxing, drinking some wine and catching up with my parents. I definitely don't want the weekend to end.  This will be my first 5 day week back at work in a very long time so I'm sure it will be a little tough to get through.

I'm looking forward to running tomorrow since it will be the only day this week that won't be in the 90s. Another heat wave is on it's way!

May Health Goals

With May being such a busy month, I wanted to make some health goals to keep in mind as I make my way through.  When things get busy, it's easy to lose site of your good habits and decide to stress eat or become stagnant.
Number 1. Take that multivitamin!
I have a really hard time remembering to do this sometimes.  I have been doing well the past week and a half though taking it every day after lunch!

#2 Drink More Water:
Now that it's getting warmer out I really need to stay hydrated especially on days with long runs.

#3:  Drink your...apple cider vinegar??
On the topic of my tempermental stomach...I've been contacted by a few people to try using apple cider vinegar to help it.  All you do is add 1tbsp raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar to an 8oz cup of water and drink.  Do this up to three times a day to help balance the acidity in your stomach.  I've only been doing this for the past 3 days, but I actually have been feeling better.  I'm going to keep doing this for the next week to see if it really does help.  Today I drank one glass after lunch which is usually the time when my stomach gives me the most trouble and I had no issues!  Doesn't taste the greatest, but if it works, I'll do it.

#4: Run 2 days, Strength Train 2 Days
I know this month is going to be crazy with the wedding inching closer and closer.  I won't have as  much time to fit in my workouts but my goal is to run 2 days a week and stregth train 2 days a week even if it's just for 20 minutes.  I think I'll be able to fit this in.

#5: Find time to relax!!!
I am such a high strung person that I stress way more than necessary.  I've been working on finding an hour each day to myslef, not worrying about wedding/work/home stuff and just enjoying myself, whether it be reading blogs, reading books, watching tv, hanging with the bf or taking champ for a walk.

There are my goals!!  Now on to my Monday.  Nothing too exciting.  Since I fit in a long run yesterday, I wanted to get some stregth training in today.  I loved the workout I did last week, so I decided to do it again today.  I altered it a bit by adding some more ab work on to the end, but still did the same cycle of dumbbell exercises followed by cardio bursts.  For the cardio I completed:
25 Football Feet
12 Burpees
15 squat jumps
25 jumping jacks
16 180 degree jumps

love these 180 degree jumps

Completing these cardio moves after each round of stregth moves was killer. I was sweating my ars off by the end.  I finished up with some stretching and headed home for taco night!
Ground chicken tacos with black beans, cheese and spinach.  String beans on the side.
Time to go snuggle with my little man haha.

Matt's bday is on Wednesday, and since we have volleyball that night I'm going to attempt to make a special bday dinner for him tomorrow.  Fingers crossed it turns out well!!

30 Days And Counting!!

Today marks 1 month until our wedding :)  We still have sooooo much to do, but we will get it done (I just have to keep telling myself that).  Today I checked off one big thing from my long to do list.  I finally finished my thank you cards from my shower:
YAY!! Only took me 2 weeks haha. I can only imagine how long it will take me after the wedding.

Matt is at the Eagles draft party tonight with his dad, so me and Champ are spending some QT together.  When I got home from work I started a 45 minute strength training workout that I found online.  I used these these 2 in 1 toners that  I found on pinterest.  I did the ones I could with the equipment I had at home. I went through these exercises 3x
Deadlift and Bent Over Row Combo (12 reps, 12lb dumbbells)

Thrusters (12 reps, 8lb dumbbells)

Push Up Row with Core Hold (10 reps each side, 8lb dumbbells)

Sumo Squat and Curl (12 reps, 10lb dumbbells)

Single Arm Step-Up and Press (12 reps each, 8lb dumbbells)

After completing this circuit each time I would do a quick cardio burst before starting the next round. I did 10 burpees, 50 jumping jacks and 20 180 degree jump squats.  This took me about 30 minutes and then I ended with some video workouts from Blogilates.  She has so many great workout videos that you can do at home. I did one video for my toosh and one video for my abs.  The abs one I could barely even finish. It was hard!

I'm so excited to be seeing some muscle definition in my arms!
raahhh!! haha. I think I just look like i have muscle b/c I just finished working out.  And my arms look like a totally different color than my legs, it kind of freaks me out lol.  For some reason I have always had an easier time getting definition in my arms than in my legs.  I think it's just in my genes.  I got this whole outfit at old navy by the way. I love their workout clothes! The shirts have cups in them and they are nice and form fitting up top and looser at the bottom.  The shorts are nice, but I would never wear them to the gym, just for at home stuff.  Time to go watch all the trashy tv I can while Matt isn't home haha.  Real housewives it is!
