One Day Personal Trainer

I went to bed at my usualy work time last night even though I took off today.  I knew I had a long day ahead of me.  I woke up at 7:30 to eat my breakfast before meeting my friend Stef at the gym for our "training session."
1/3 cup plain nonfat chobani, 1/3 cup pumpkin, oatmeal squares, craisins, chia seeds and a spoonfull of peanut butter added post-picture.

Then I was off to the gym! Stef asked me to workout with her this morning before our big bachelorette weekend and I was glad to say yes.
me and stef this past summer

I had planned out in my head what I wanted to do. We start out with this circuit workout:

I'm obsessed with dumbbell bulgarian squats.
my ass hurts just looking at it!

From there we moved on to doing some abs work from the nike ap on Stef's Iphone.  And next we did 40 minutes of cardio.  We started off on the treadmill with a 3 minute slow jog and then we started the interval workout.  You basically run at a base pace for two minutes and then sprint for 1 minutes and then repeat, increasing srpinting speeds by 0.2 each time until you reach 20 minutes.  We finished up with 20 minutes on the stationary bike.

Then we headed to brunch on main st.  I forgot to take a pic of my food because I was starving. I ordered an egg white omlet with broccoli, tomatoes, spinach and cheddar cheese with wheat toast and potatoes on the side.  I devoured it.  After brunch I went to the grocery store (have I mentioned that I hate the grocery store?).  When I got home I felt like I was still hungy.  I don't know how but I've been eating so much today. I had an apple and part of a granolla bar for a snack.

After cleaning my car, finally showering at 3:30pm and resting a bit it was time for dinner. I grabbed some food at a local sandwich shop becuase I was lazy.
My favorite salad on earth.  Roasted veggie salad with squash, zucchini, roasted peppers, onions, tomatoes, goat cheese and a curry vinagrette.  SO GOOD!!!
cup of vegetable chili on the side, although I swear I tasted meat.

I tried to eat extra healthy today since I am on my way to AC tomorrow for my bachelorette party! I have a feeling I'll be anxious to get in the gym when Monday rolls around hahah. Can't wait to see all my friends that live so far away! 2.5 months and counting until the big day!

Record Breaking Day!

My day started out just like any other.  A bowl of overnight oats for breakfast, and then off to work.  It was freakishly warm out today, in the 70s, so I decided that it was the perfect day for my first cup of iced coffee.
my morning snack

I'm obsessed with my random quinoa lunch creations lately
Be warned, I ate half of this before I took the picture. I was super hungry. In the mix I have carrots, zucchini, broccoli, snap peas, quinoa, roasted chickpeas, and blue cheese.
grapes on the side

As soon as I got home from work it was time to leave for my second wedding dress fitting!  We made some final decisions on what jewelry I'm going to be wearing and my made of honor and mom got to learn how to do the bustle.  After a few more adjustments I was headed home for dinner. I was starving so I made a really quick egg white sandwich with spinach, sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese with a heated up banana on the side.

Then it was time to check my blogs! That's when I saw it....

I GOT 121 VIEWS TODAY!!!!!

(My face)

This is a lot of views for my little blog and I was so excited I ran right over to Matt to show him.

I'm so glad I took off from work tomorrow because I have so much to do. My day will be starting out with a workout at the gym.  My friend Stef is coming with me.  She asked me to give her a little training session and I am totally pumped! This could be my second calling afterall.

Veggies and my new obsession, spiced roasted chickpeas. They are soooo good!! I even got some people at work to try them.

Lunch:
Whole wheat deli flat with peanut butter and apple butter. 1/3 cup plain nonfat greek yogurt, 1/3 cup pumpkin with roasted chickpeas and mixed nuts on top.  Gearing up for my run after work.

Dinner:

Snack (sorry no pic):
Banana put in the micowave for 30 seconds mixed with crasins and a scoop of yogurt. Chocolate on the side of course!

Pretty right??....I didn't make it. oops.  I just was not in the mood to cook today and we had a coupon to Boston Market so I went for it.  1/4 white meat with mixed veggies and vegetable stuffing.

Between lunch and dinner I went for a run around Newark. I have been getting a little bored of my typical route so I decided to mix things up.  I mapped out a 4.25 mile route that included two BIG hills.  I thought I could handle it.  I pretty much died haha.  I made it through though without stopping and was proud of myself when I finished.
Large hill in the distance.  Hill #2 of my run.

looking a hot mess after my run. ready to pass out.

I finished 4.35 miles in 39 minutes.  I was happy with my pace considering all the hills and my legs being tired from my workout yesterday.  Tomorrow I have my second wedding dress fitting :) So excited! And then I'm off on Friday to prepare for Atlantic City!

Roasted Chickpeas YUM

Work was sloowwww today.  We go through really busy periods and lulls just like every other company and we are in a bit of a lull right now.  By the time I got out of work I was so ready to get moving. I headed to the gym for my usual weights and cardio workout.  First I completed a arms and legs workout including Dumbbell Bulgarian Squats, Tricep Extensions, Goblet Squats, Bench Presses, Alternating Forward Lunges, and Front Arm Raises.  I went through these doing 12 reps for 3 sets. My legs were hurting by the end.  Then I moved on to some work on the bosu ball including my new favorite ab workout.
Mountain Climber With Hands On Bosu Ball

I finished my workout with 15 minutes on the bike and 15 minutes on the eliptical before I went home to make dinner. I attempted to make burritos tonight...attempted.
Brown rice and black beans
Onions and Peppers
Chicken

My burrito would not stay together so I had to use toothpicks haha
Still tasted pretty good though

After dinner I tried to make spiced baked chickpeas for snacks and to put on top of my salads.
Baked Chickpeas
Drain and rinse one can of chickpeas.  Preheat oven to 450 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.  Spread the chickpeas on the baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.  Transfer chickpeas to a bowl when finished baking and mix with 1 tsp cinnamon, 2 tsp olive oil, 1.5 tsp brown sugar and 1/4 tsp salt.  Enjoy!  I'm bringing these bad boys to work with me tomorrow for a healthy snack and some extra protein.

Massage Anxiety

Today was very very uneventful.  I woke up, went to work, went to a doctor's appoinment, went shopping for my neices and nephew and made it home in time for dinner. My legs needed a rest day today and I was glad to take one.

Now for a recap of mine and Matt's couple's massage on Saturday.
(I think Matt's love of cat humor photos is starting to wear off on me)

I had a kick ass groupon for an hour long couples massage for $55, originally $140 value.  I was pumped. This was only my second massage ever and my first hour long one.  I was a little nervous becuase I really don't like to be touched by people I don't know.  I hate manicures and pedicures...I know it's like I'm not a real woman or something.  I even hate getting my hair cut! I went in with an open mind.

First red flag: the massage place was below a gym.  Interesting.  Matt and I went and filled out all the paperwork and then went in the room to undress (scandelous!).  We had been greeted by a man and a woman around our age.  I wasn't sure if they would be the one's doing the massages, but it turned out they were.  They told us to undress to where we were comfortable.  Me being a nervous nelly decided to leave my bra on haha! I know what was I thinking??

So they two massage people, uhhhh masseuses, walk in.  One boy, one girl.  Guess who I got?? The guy haha.  For some reason this makes me really uncomfortable and I kind of start to sweat.  To add to the awkwardness like only I could, the male masseuse asks me very politely if he can take off my bra (I'm laying on my stomach).  I say sureeeee and he snaps it right off.  He's definitely had experience with this kind of thing before.  So the massage starts and there's this really soothing music on and then we hear a big "BOOOOMM." Guess one of the juice heads upstairs dropped their weights on the floor.  Matt and I both agreed that it sounded like we were in a warzone.  So this is me during the entire massage:
AWKWARD!!

Then we turn on our backs and it gets even worse! He goes to massage my legs and pulls the sheet up a little too much for my comfort. HELLO!  I wish I had warn my granny panties!! So I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in the world who can't even relax during a massage. Matt agreed. There is no hope for me.  I think I'll give it another try, but I would much rather have a woman next time, not a 25 year old guy.

I hope I'm not the only one out there that thinks like this haha. Oh well.  It makes me "different" right??

Happy Runner and First Time Curry Cooker

Matt and I talked last night and we both agreed that we wanted to go to glasgow park to run today.  Glasgow has a big loop that is 2.6 miles around and we both wanted to try and do two laps.  Matt is finally recovering for his foot injury and I haven't really run further than four miles since my 10k back in November...oops.  I was a little sore from my workout yesterday, but overall I was feeling good.  I had it set in my head that I wanted to just have a "leisurely" run.  My first mile I finished in 9.00.  I told myself to slow down but I was feeling good.  I ended up keeping my 9 minute pace the whole time which is actually faster than my pace that I ran for my 10k!
5.2 miles in 46.56.  Matt kicked my butt finishing with a 7.30 pace....show off

Then it was time for lunch:
egg white omlet with aspargus, zucchini, spinach and cheese
I also had a bowl of pineapple and grapes with cottage cheese and apple butter on top.

Post picture I also had some dry cereal afterwards b/c I was still hungry.

After lunch I started a new book!
I really want to finish the book before I see the movie and I know it's coming out soon.

Before I knew it it was time for dinner.  I wanted to try something new tonight and found this recipe for Thai Coconut Curry Shrimp and was sold.  The only changes I made were that I didn't have fish sauce so I just used soy sauce and I added some frozen chopped bell peppers to the mix for some more veggies.  It was one of the quickest recipes I've ever made and it turned out so good.  It even got Matt's stamp of approval.

I'm sad the weekend is over, but I only have a 4 day work week ahead of me! I am taking off on Friday to prepare for my bachelorette party! Cannot wait!
