Missing Champers and Night "Out"

Today around 4:30 we dropped off Champ at the farm where he'll stay while we are in Pittsburgh for the weekend.  He has lots of room to run around and a lot of doggy friends to play with, but I still miss him tons. This is the first time we've had to take him somewhere to be watched while we are out of town. The thing I miss the most:
Champ's perch. This is one of Champs favorite places in the house. He loves perching up and looking out the window. Except....about 75% of the time he goes to his perch HE FARTS!! haha.  He's such a little weirdo, but it crackes me up.
Oops he looks mad at me for catching him farting at his perch.

After we dropped off Champ we drove to UD for a run around campus. I finished 4.15 miles in about 37 minutes.  Then we went to dinner on main street to refuel!
Bathroom pictures are the coolest.

We went to this place called Cheeburger Cheeburger...I know what you are thinking. Where are the S's?? I have no idea. The best part about this place is you can customize everything your way for free. All toppings are free including on salads
Invent your own salad, yes please!

Grilled chicken salad with tomatoes, craisins, almonds, cucumbers, carrots, pineapple and guac with balsalmic dressing. AMAZING.  I love giant salads. There was obviously no way I finished this thing, but I made a pretty good dent.

Now Matt and I are packing and getting ready for our trip tomorrow. We'll be up bright and early to get on the road! Have a good weekend!

Running With The Dog...Work In Progress

Today after work I headed to the grocery store, aka my least favorite time of the week.  Luckily I had a handful of coupons with me when I walked in, and they had some great sales this week including 10 Chobani for $10!! This should keep me stocked for a while ten days.  When I got home I took Champ out for a run.  This is my second attempt at running with him. My first idea was to do the 5k loop in our neighborhood.  Champ started out strong pulling me the whole way for the first 10 minutes. He definitely went out too strong because he started to crash. I was dragging him most of the way after this. When we hit 25 minutes of walking/running I decided to head home because he was panting like woo.  I haven't run with animals much so I'm not sure what I should take as him being actually tired or just a little tired.  Either way we got 2 miles in and we definitel bonded lol.

When I got home I fed Champ and then finished off my workout with one round of these workouts. Do each for 1 minute with 15 seconds rest in between.
I originally found this workout at Gothextramile.

All in all with the walk/run and weights workout I got about 40 minutes in. Then it was time for dinner:
Leftover buffalo chicken from last night on a big salad with roasted sweet potatoes and veggies.

One more work day until our trip to Pittsburgh! Can't wait!!

What I Ate Wednesday And A Slow Run

Happy Wednesday
What I Ate Wednesday in the blogging world!

Breakfast:
Overnight Oats: 1/4 cup oatmeal, container pomegranate chobani, 1/4 cup almond milk with peanut butter, craisins and granolla on top

Snack:
Banana and Coconut Water to stay extra hydrated before my run after work!

Lunch:
Megan Fried Rice: First I cooked up some asparagus, green peppers and brussel sprouts, then added brown rice and black beans into the mixed. I finished it off with some egg whites for extra protein and topped it with some cheddar cheese.  Apple on the side.

After work I went for a run around campus.  I wanted to just go slow and enjoy myself after a stressful day.  I really enjoyed my run.  I ran 4.25 miles in 39 minutes, my pace right around 9.10.  I felt like I could've kept going, but unfortunately didn't have the time :(

Dinner (one of my favs)
Healthy Buffalo Chicken Wraps
2 baked chicken breasts
2 tbsp hot sauce
3 tbsp white vinegar
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tbsp nonfat greek yogurt
2 tbsp low fat mayo
1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles
pepper to taste
chopped celery
spinach leaves
whole wheat tortillas

I cooked the chicken breasts the night before so all I had to do was chop them up and stick them in a skillet to warm them up. Mix together the hot sauce, 2tbsp vinegar and cayenne and pour over the chicken while it's cooking. In a separate bowl mix remaining vinegar, yogurt, mayo, pepper and blue cheese.  Spread the blue cheese mixture on you tortilla, top with hot wing chicken, celery and lettuce. SCARF!!!

grapes on the side

Snack:
cut up pear and on of my oatmeal cookies

I'm going to attempt to run with Champ again tomorrow, we'll see how that goes!

Rest Day = Errands Day

Today was my rest day from working out.  My body needs a break, and me myself had some serious errands to do after work.  My first stop was at JoAnn Fabrics for some crafting supplies for the wedding.  I picked up a few things including two of these:

I want to turn them into something like this:

After JoAnn's I went over to old navy to look for a blouse to wear next Tuesday under my big girl suit.  I'm presenting a poster at a nerdy science conference and need to look somewhat professional (not in my usual jeans and a tshirt).  When I got home I added my wedding goods to the growing stock pile in our basement:
I don't think our outside table will be making it out of the basement until June!
more stuff on Matt's tailgate table.

We also got these in the mail the other day:
:)

Then it was finally time for dinner. I got crabcakes from the fish counter in the grocery store last week so it made for a pretty easy dinner. I cut up a sweet potato to go with it and baked the "fries" for 30 minutes at 400 degrees.
Veggies and hummus on the side.

My hip is almost 100% better. I'm planning to run after work so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well!

Circuit Workout and Addictive Oatmeal Cookies

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a good Monday. Mine actually wasn't half bad. I got a great workout in after work even though I'm still avoiding running until my hip is 100% (feeling so much better than yesterday already).  I was in the mood for a good circuit workout so I put this baby together and boy did it kick my butt:

I have a feeling I'll be sore tomorrow! This took me about 20 minutes to complete. Then I moved on to some cardio.  I did 15 minutes on the stairmaster and 20 minutes walking on different inclines from 0 to 10.  For some reason I always feel like I should be wearing leg warmers and a sweatband when I'm on the stairmaster, but it always makes me sweat. Nobody ever uses those poor machines, I feel bad for them sometimes lol.

Dinner was leftover BBQ Blue Cheese Turkey Burgers from last week. Leftovers make my life so much easier!
Had my turkey burger on a peice of great harvest dakota toast .
and a salad on the side

It's that time of the month again folks......and that only means one thing. I need to bake.  I was craving cookies,  and this is definitely the time to give in to cravings or your body will just end up hating you more, at least that's my theory. I found this recipe somewhere and adapted it to what I had in my kitchen. They literally took me 20 mintues to make before I was shoving one in my face lol.

Addictive Oatmeal Cookies
1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
3/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup raw sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup craisins
3 tbsp egg whites
1 tbsp butter softened
1/8 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix wet and dry ingredients separately, then add dry ingrdients into wet and mix.  Make 12 cookies around a tbsp each and bake for 12 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before devouring!

One last very important thing. Happy Birthday to my sister Melissa. Can't wait to visit this coming weekend and meet my neice!

Break Out The Grill Baby!

This morning I woke up determined to get my butt to the gym.  I have been going light on my weight training the past weeks to keep my legs fresh for my little 5k! But, my legs had other plans in mind.  My left hip has been bothering me since the race. Nothing major I don't think but I've been icing it today.  I did make it to the gym, but I tried to stick to low impact activities.  I started out with a short weights workout including squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and ab work on the stability ball. I also included some of these:
Lying tricep extension.  I really like this exercise because it not only works your arms but also your abs to keep you stable. I finished off my workout with 45 minutes of cardio split between the bike and the eliptical.  It was a struggle I'm not going to lie.  My body was tired but I wanted to finish.

I spent the rest of my day procrasinating doing wedding stuff.  I am not one of those brides that loves crafting 24 hours a day so that their wedding is flawless. I'm one of those brides who just wants to get married already so I can go to St. Lucia and don't feel like making more lace lanterns and cute signs. JoAnn fabrics scares me, and I need more lace fabric. I think the people there come from another planet.

After taking champ for a walk, cleaning the house, and reading the Hunger Games book 2 it was just about time for dinner. Matt and I looked at the weather earlier in the week and thought it would be the perfect day to break out the grill for our frist bbq of the year :)  I picked up some steak, veggies and potatoes for our meal.
Steak, onion and gren pepper. I eventually brushed some bbq sauce on them too.

Red potato that I later mixed with olive oil, salt, pepper and old bay and then wrapped up and put on the grill for 10 minutes per side.

Then did the same thing with some brussel sprouts and zucchini.

Manning the grill!

Begging for scraps.

We obviously didn't go too hard last night (my stomach was having none of it) so we had some drinks along with dinner!

Holy cow now that's a lot of food. I finished about half haha. But seriously, best brussel sprouts ever.

Next time I'm dousing the potatoes with old bay because I could barely taste it and I love old bay!

Ok time to get back to my book! Can't stop reading!
